urricane Helene rolled through, it left a lot of damage in its wake. For one local homeowner, that meant a massive tree crashing down on her roof—right above the guest bedroom. After the roofers did their part and the structure was made safe again, she called us at Asheville Drywall to help bring the inside of her home back to life.
Picking up the pieces
When we first stepped into the room, the ceiling was torn wide open. The storm had ripped through the drywall, and you could see straight up into the rafters, with insulation hanging out and debris scattered. The light fixtures and ceiling fan were damaged as well. It was the kind of mess that can feel overwhelming to any homeowner.

Getting the Space Back
Once everything was cleared out and the roof was fixed, we came in to do what we do best. We protected the floors and furniture, sealed off the work area, and got to it.

First, we carefully removed the remaining damaged ceiling and insulation. Then we installed fresh R38 insulation to make sure the room would stay comfortable and efficient long after the repair was done.
We hung new drywall, carefully matched the layout, and applied multiple coats of mud to blend the seams into the existing ceiling. It’s one of those parts of the job people often don’t think about—but it’s the difference between a ceiling that looks “patched” and one that looks like nothing ever happened.
Once the surface was smooth and ready, we reinstalled a new ceiling fan and lights. The room was back to normal.

More Than Just a Repair
This wasn’t just about fixing drywall. It was about helping someone feel at home again after the chaos of a storm. That’s what we really do—whether it’s patching a hole or replacing an entire ceiling, we’re here to help restore peace of mind, one room at a time.
